Well, let me tell ya ’bout them pink and purple flower plants, the kinda stuff ya see growin’ all over, but maybe ya don’t know the names. I sure didn’t for a long time, just called ’em pretty things.
First off, there’s them onion-lookin’ things, them “Alliums” they call ’em. Fancy name for somethin’ that looks like a big ol’ onion on a stick, ya know? They got them sturdy stems, real strong like, and the flowers on top, they’re round and puffy, like a little purple ball. Some are pink too, not just purple. Pretty tough plants, they don’t need much fussin’ over.
- They like the sun, gotta give ’em that.
- Don’t need waterin’ all the time, which is good, ’cause I ain’t got time for that.
- And the bugs, them deers and rabbits, they don’t seem to bother with ’em much, which is a blessin’, let me tell ya.
Then there’s all them other pink and purple flowers. Roses, now them I know. Lots of folks got roses, pink ones, purple ones, red ones too. Smell nice, but they got them thorns, gotta be careful. And them “peonies,” big ol’ fluffy flowers, real showy. They got pink ones and purple ones too. Pretty, but they don’t last long, ya know? Here today, gone tomorrow, like a good rain.
And somethin’ called “lavender.” That’s one I like. Smells good, real good, kinda clean and fresh. Them flowers, they’re little, on a stick, and the color, well, it’s kinda purple, kinda blue, hard to say exactly. But it’s pretty, and the smell, oh that smell, it keeps the bugs away, which is a good thing, like I said.
Now, them “orchids”, them are fancy. I seen ’em at the store, never had one myself. Too much trouble, I reckon. They got pink ones and purple ones, all kinda shapes and sizes. Some look like little faces, some look like butterflies. Pretty, but like I said, too much fuss for me. Gotta water ’em just right, gotta give ’em special food, nah, not for me.
Another one I heard of is called “May Night Salvia.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just a flower, a purple flower, on a stick. Lots of little flowers on a stick, makes a kinda bushy thing. They say it blooms a long time, which is nice. And the bees, they like it, always buzzin’ around it. Bees are good, gotta have bees for the garden to grow.
So, ya see, there’s lots of pink and purple flower plants out there. Some easy to grow, some not so much. But they all pretty, in their own way. And they make the world a little brighter, ya know? Somethin’ nice to look at, somethin’ to make ya smile. And that’s important, ain’t it? To have somethin’ pretty to look at, somethin’ to make ya smile.
And here’s another thing, if you’re plantin’ these things, make sure they get some sun. Most of ’em like the sun, a good few hours a day. And don’t water ’em too much, that’s worse than not waterin’ ’em enough, I tell ya. Let the dirt dry out a bit between waterin’s. And if ya see dead leaves or flowers, pluck ’em off. Makes the plant look better and helps it grow better too, they say. I dunno about all that, but it seems to work.
And another thing, don’t be afraid to try different ones. Ya might find one ya really like, one that does good in your yard. And if it dies, well, that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Gardening ain’t easy, but it’s worth it, I reckon. Gets ya outside, gets ya some fresh air, and ya get to see somethin’ pretty grow. Can’t beat that, can ya?
