Cheap & Chic: How to Make a Hanging Flower Garland on a Budget.

Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little DIY adventure today – making a hanging flower garland! I’ve always loved the look of these, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

Getting Started

First things first, I gathered my materials. I picked up some faux flowers from the craft store – a mix of colors and sizes, because, you know, variety is the spice of life! I also grabbed some floral wire, green floral tape, and some twine. Oh, and scissors! Can’t forget those.

Building the Base

I started by cutting a length of twine – about 6 feet, just to give myself plenty of room to work with. Then, I took my floral wire and started wrapping it around the twine. This is going to be the backbone of the garland, giving it some structure so it doesn’t just flop all over the place.

Adding the Flowers

This is where the fun begins! I started trimming the stems of my faux flowers, leaving about 2-3 inches on each. Then, one by one, I began attaching them to the wire-wrapped twine. I used the floral tape to secure them, wrapping it tightly around the stem and the wire. I made sure to alternate the colors and sizes of the flowers, just to keep things interesting.

  • Trim flower stems to 2-3 inches.
  • Attach flowers to the wire base.
  • Secure with floral tape.
  • Alternate flower types and colors.

Filling it Out

I just kept adding flowers, overlapping them slightly to create a full, lush look. I didn’t want any gaps showing the wire underneath. It took a bit of time, but honestly, it was kind of therapeutic. Just me, my flowers, and some good music.

The Final Touches

Once I was happy with the flower coverage, I took a step back and looked at the whole thing. I added a few extra flowers here and there, just to fill in any spots that looked a little sparse. And that’s pretty much it! I tied loops at each end of the twine for easy hanging, and voila! My very own hanging flower garland.

It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it! It added a nice pop of color to my living room, and it was a fun little project to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon. If you are looking for a easy and fun project, you should try it!
