Well, I heard it’s that time of year again. Time for that big Midlands Plant and Flower Festival 2024. Ain’t that somethin’? I reckon it’s a sight to see, all them pretty flowers and plants all in one place. I think it’s in April. Yes, April 11 to 14, that’s what the folks are sayin’ and April 13 from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Lord, that’s a long time to be lookin’ at flowers, but I guess some folks really like that sort of thing.
They say it’s down there at that South Carolina State Farmers Market. I been there a time or two. They got all kinds of things there. This year, I bet they’ll have more flowers than you can shake a stick at. All colors and sizes, I imagine.
If you like flowers, that’s the place to be, in West Columbia. It is at 3483 Charleston Hwy. Sounds like you can get all sorts of things. Flowers, plants and all that other stuff. They say it’s gonna be a big deal this year. Bigger and better, they always say that. You can shop seasonal plants. I don’t know what seasonal plants mean. I think they mean plants that grow in spring.
I hear tell they even got them things called “garden essentials.” Now, what in the world is a garden essential? I reckon it’s just fancy talk for shovels and rakes and such. But I guess if you’re serious about your garden, you need all that stuff. I remember some people talk about gourds. What are they? Can we eat them?

I guess some folks get real excited about this Midlands Plant and Flower Festival. They’ll be linin’ up to get in, I bet. They will shop for plants and flowers. They’ll probably spend all their money on flowers and dirt and who knows what else.
I heard it on Sunday, too. But I don’t know the specific time. It’s in Cayce, SC. I think it’s a place near West Columbia. Well, that’s a lot of plants. I think it’s gonna be a big deal. This flower festival, it ain’t just a couple of flower pots sittin’ out there. This is a big operation. It takes a lot to set it all up, I’m sure. They gotta haul in all them flowers and plants. Then they gotta arrange them all pretty-like. It’s a lot of work for a bunch of flowers, if you ask me.
This flower festival, it’s somethin’ else. I reckon it is. Some folks they go every year. They wouldn’t miss it for the world. I don’t know how many people will go there. Maybe a lot. They like to look at all the pretty flowers and buy them, I reckon.
They say it’s the Spring Plant and Flower Festival. But I heard that they have it in October, too. That’s weird. Maybe the one in October has different plants. They say it’s from October 4 to 6. They have pumpkins in October. I like pumpkins. You can make pies with them. Pumpkin pie is my favorite. So I think that flower festival is in spring and also in the fall. Spring is April, and the fall is October. But I don’t know why they name it Spring Plant and Flower Festival.
But I guess if you’re into that sort of thing, it’s a good time. Me, I’d rather be sittin’ on my porch, drinkin’ sweet tea. But to each their own, I reckon. Some people like to plant flowers, and some people like sweet tea. Different people like different things. That’s what makes the world go round, they say. If you want to go, you should go. It’s in West Columbia. It’s a good place to buy flowers.
