Okay, so I’ve been wanting to add some serious color to my garden, and I stumbled upon this thing called the “Mesa Bright Bicolor Blanket Flower.” Sounded fancy, but honestly, I just liked the pictures. Here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed some seeds online. I could’ve gotten plants, but I like doing things from scratch. Where is the fun, right?
- Found a sunny spot: These guys love the sun, so I picked a spot in my yard that gets blasted with light all day.
- Prepped the soil: My soil is kinda crappy, so I mixed in some compost. Nothing fancy, just the regular stuff from the garden center.
- Waited for the right time: I planted the seeds after the last frost. I just followed the instructions on the seed packet—didn’t want to mess it up.
The Waiting Game (and Some Watering)
I sprinkled the seeds on top of the soil and patted them down gently. Then came the boring part: waiting. I watered them regularly, making sure the soil stayed damp but not soaking wet. I felt like a nervous parent checking on them every few hours.
Sprouts!
After about a week or two, I saw tiny little sprouts! It was exciting! I kept watering them, and they slowly started to grow bigger. A few weeds popped up here and there, so I carefully pulled them out. Didn’t want those suckers stealing nutrients from my flowers.
Finally, Flowers!
It took a while—maybe a couple of months—but finally, I saw buds. And then, boom! These awesome red and yellow flowers opened up. They were way brighter than I expected. The “Mesa Bright” part of the name is no joke.
The bees and butterflies are total fans!. It’s kinda cool to watch them buzzing around. I have to remember to cut off the dead flowers—they said it helps them keep blooming.
The flowers are very pretty, and the neighbors also gave me some compliments. I feel like I have successfully accomplished something, and I want to share it with others.
So, that’s my Mesa Bright Bicolor Blanket Flower story. Not exactly rocket science, but it was fun, and my garden looks way better now. If you’re looking for a pop of color, I’d say give these a try. They are very easy and interesting!
